Hello. I tried this recipe this morning. I new to this paleo/gluten free lifestyle, so this was a nice test of something different to replace pancakes, which I love, but which my body hates. I found them very crepe like as well. Almost like the French part of Frech Toast. I added a tsp of vanilla extract, and a little salt. I look forward to experimenting with this for sure. Next time I will use really ripe banana’s, no cinnamon and add pecan. I also used a cast iron skillet which might just get to hot for these delicate pancakes. But low and slow seemed to do the trick. Meatloaf is one food you don’t have to give up while following the Paleo diet. The great thing about meatloaf is everyone usually likes it enough to make it a regular menu item. In this version it has been miniaturized so that you don’t end up making one big loaf, but rather individual-sized portions so that everyone gets a nice outer crust, and it avoids the problem of soggy or crustless middle section pieces. You’ll notice that the breadcrumbs have been done away with as they aren’t allowed on the Paleo diet. You won’t notice they’re gone because there’s coconut flour instead.

DIY roasted nuts are easier than you’d think—all you need is a bag of mixed nuts, an egg white, and go-to spices: sea salt, pepper, rosemary, sage, garlic powder, and paprika. Coat the nuts in the egg white in one bowl, and mix all the spices in another. Pour the spice mix over the nuts, transfer to a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper, and roast for 16 minutes.
One strong suggestion… if you’re against using a non-stick pan or griddle… I HIGHLY recommend this steel crepe pan. I don’t know how I’ve gone without it in my kitchen. It’s one of the best purchases I’ve made (right up there with my Instant Pot) and the crepe pan is super affordable. Season it really well just once and you’ve got what’s basically non-stick steel. It’s way better than a cast iron skillet. Yep. I went there.
It’s easy to get plantains and bananas mixed up. While plantains are part of the banana family and the two look alike, plantains are not sweet, and instead are used mostly as a starchy vegetable. Think of plantain chips as veggie chips. They are often sliced and baked with olive oil and salt, creating a nice crunch. I’ve been making these for the last couple of months just using lesser ratios of ingredients and they are awesome! A small drizzle of honey or maple syrup, fresh fruit or more nut butter on top really makes for a delicious, quick breakfast! BTW.. bought your book when it was released and LOVE IT! Your book, and a couple of others along with Mark’s Daily Apple website have been my best friends as I’ve started this venture into a new lifestyle! Just spent the morning ‘detoxifying’ my cupboards and fridge… Started wading into this about 4 months ago and now know I can’t turn back! Thanks for being an inspiration!

These skittles are made totally with fruit or vegetables and coconut butter. It’s the combination of the fruits and veggies that make them so good. The recipes for all 7 different flavors are included. The ingredients listed above for maroon consist of all the ingredients. The other colors only have the ingredients listed that are not included in the maroon variety. All you need is a good blender and a food dehydrator. Although I have dried fruits in the oven before. The oven is faster but necessarily better. Just turn it on the lowest heat possible. I put links to two different dehydrators because one is way more affordable than the other. I have the cheap one and it works fine. But if you think you might use it a lot it might be worth the investment to get the more expensive one. Since the skittles are dried they can be stored at room temperature for a long time. That makes them handy to keep in your purse or bag for a time. I’ve also been known to freeze. dried foods and they keep just fine for a really long time.

These did taste amazing, however I am one of those that cannot get these to stay together to flip them. If I waited long enough to flip without it being a scrambled mess, they were black. Should I try a lower heated skillet for a longer time? Or possibly I am not using enough oil in my skillet? My husband and I both ate them….even scrambled they tasted wonderful. I always cook a tray of bacon in the oven while the pancakes are on the griddle, and then we make sandwiches with bacon and maple butter. The kids love them for school lunches or afternoon snacks! Jambalaya can be a very hard recipe to make, which is why it’s good that this uses the slow cooker because you can take out some of that complexity. It’s also a dish that lends itself nicely to Paleo eating because it includes plenty of different meats, as well as a good amount of vegetables. For example there is an entire head of cauliflower added to this, and it helps to balance out all of the sausage and chicken. They make it even easier by using premixed Cajun seasoning, but they also point out that you can use your own if you happen to have some already made.
These breakfast cups use two primary ingredients that are Paleo friendly: ham and eggs. They make a cup out of the ham so that the egg can rest inside of it. This means you are not getting any additional ingredients to muck things up, and they have kept it very simple. In fact there are only two other ingredients, and one of those is optional. This recipe does its best to replicate the chocolate Hostess brand donuts, but in a way that gets rid of the lousy ingredients and replaces them with wholesome ones. They contain wonderful things like medjool dates, eggs, and coconut flour, rather than what you’ll find in a package of Hostess donettes. The main ingredient in those is sugar, followed by partially hydrogenated vegetable oil which provides trans fat, and wheat flour. Rashid – check out my comment below (about the Tanka Bars – the spicy one that I like only has about 250mg or 11%DV – which isn’t too bad for “jerky” type snacks. Low fat and pretty low calorie too). I’m addicted to them! Costco online has the best deal if you buy in bulk. Otherwise, try Ebay, sometimes people sell them there in smaller quantities you can try (maybe Zupan’s or New Season’s Markets or Whole Foods might carry them as well??? – I’m not sure).
For a heartier cake, it’s best to mix a few different flours. This recipe uses almond, coconut, and tapioca flour, and also insists that eggs be at room temperature so the ingredients bind easily and cook perfectly (i.e. not too fast, which can cause them to burn).
