More than a little into running and paleo recipes (yoga now too!) but I'm not here to rain on your grains (or anything else) so come along for the ride! I do a little too much of everything (except cleaning), and I enjoy laughing at myself. As long as I'm the one making the jokes, that is. Just kidding. So bring me your angst, your appetite and your frying pan and climb aboard! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye9x6AAcrUk
These berries are wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with a blend of cheese and greens. They make for a fun snack, and are also great for entertaining. If you’ve been worried that you can’t host a party or serve guests Paleo foods, there’s no need to worry. Many of the dishes that you make will not look any different than “normal” food, and if you don’t want to tell anyone it’s Paleo friendly, you don’t have to. In this recipe they’re using ricotta, but they are making sure it’s grass-fed. If you are unable to process any sort of dairy you’ll want to omit this part, but many Paleo followers allow a bit of high quality cheese now and then.
I have 9 Paleo snack recipes when you’re on the go so you can stay on track with minimal effort. These are good ideas for work, snacks at home, children’s snacks, and vacations. Sometimes eating on the Paleo diet can be kind of hard. Especially when you are traveling or always on the go. And extra EXTRA hard if you are traveling with kids AND doing the paleo diet. Whew! I’m tired just thinking of it.

Leftover chicken or turkey breast, pork chop, burger, or any meat with avocado/guacamole/guacachoke* smeared on top. You can just roast a pound or two of any kind of meat in the oven for 13 minutes or so and then have all that meat for snacks and meals for the week. Sometimes we make 3-pound hams in our smoker, slice it up, put it in a glass container and then I can just grab a piece of ham when I want it. Any meat will do!

Remove the meat from the marinade and lay it out on your counter on top of some paper towels. The goal is to get it as dry as possible. Lay paper towel over top and pat it dry. Now’s the time to put it into your dehydrator or oven. You can thread the meat onto wooden skewers (near one end of each piece) and lay the skewers perpendicular to the oven wrack’s bars (use the top shelf). Make sure the meat hangs down. Place cooking sheets lined in foil beneath the meat to catch any drips.
Making a pizza crust from cauliflower is something you just have to try if you haven’t yet. You’ll be surprised that a vegetable can double as a pizza crust, and even more surprised to learn that it actually tastes good. This pizza makes use of bacon, so it has an unfair advantage on your taste buds. There’s also spinach as a topping, so you’re definitely covered in the vegetable department. Coconut flour helps the cauliflower turn out like a pizza crust, so you won’t be focused on that while you’re eating and you can focus on the bacon.

This is an easy way to musakhan, and if you don’t know how to make this traditional dish, this is a great place to start. It uses plenty of chicken thighs, so you’ll be all set in the protein department. It also contains plenty of spices like allspice, cloves, and saffron. You’ll be getting a few onions in this, but you may want to eat a salad with it because there are not a lot of vegetables being used, and you want to create a nice balance between all that chicken and your vegetable intake. Don’t be afraid to try new recipes on Paleo, trial and error is how our species made it this far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOGwEnwlDF4
These are delicious! I didn’t have any coconut flour so I used 1/4 of all plant protein powder and they turned out great. I did separate the egg whites and beat them separately. I couldn’t believe how light and fluffy they were, although they were pretty delicate and wanted to fall apart. Next time I think I would add in some starch or binder to hold them together a bit more.
And the absolute best part is that they have only 5 main ingredients and take only 5 minutes to whip together. In only about 10-15 minutes of cook time, you can have delicious, light and fluffy Paleo banana pancakes. Top them with your favorite fruit, and a drizzle of maple syrup for the perfect healthy breakfast for your Saturday or Sunday morning. Another great weekend breakfast is this Sweet Potato Hash with Sausage and Eggs, this Sweet Potato Sausage Frittata or this Sweet Potato Breakfast Casserole. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN6GiTISGQU
These snack bars will definitely cure you of any food cravings, which makes them great as an emergency backup while you’re on the Paleo plan. Paleo is definitely not about starving yourself, or torturing yourself by depriving yourself of enjoyable foods, and these bars are proof of that. Imagine having a supply of these at the ready for times when you’re hungry but your next meal won’t be for a few hours. You’d be able to quell any signs of hunger which can often lead to diet-ruining food choices. However, as long as you’re eating balanced Paleo meals in the proper portions you shouldn’t be getting hungry until several hours after you’ve eaten.
Like plantain chips, kale chips are also a smart Paleo snack (and a healthier version of potato chips). Kale has a ton of health benefits and is full of vitamins and antioxidants. While plantain chips are smaller and hard to scoop, kale chips go great with dips, like guacamole or salsa, because of their larger sheet-like size. They are very easy to make at home but can also be found at most grocery stores nationwide. Need more reasons to add kale to your diet? Here are five ways kale fights off obesity, cancers, and diseases. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PsxZ6jsALk
Tacos can be tricky to make Paleo, but they’ve figured out a good way here by using portobello mushroom caps for the shells. These caps do a good job of holding all of the yummy taco-inspired ingredients, and by the time you finish one of these you’ll feel satisfied, and like you just had Taco Night. The thick texture of the mushrooms means you can pile on the taco toppings and you won’t have to worry about breaking the shell.
You’ve done it again! You’ve managed to knock our old favourite pancakes off the top spot and these little beauties are now in pole position in the family pancake hall of fame. Tasty, delicate and sweet, my children will be requesting these for breakfast all week – so much healthier than a bowl of sugary cereal. Looking forward to experimenting with some new flavours but I find with breakfast the sweet spices are always a winner.
I used a heaping spoonful of crunchy peanut butter and a small banana (about half a normal banana) with an egg and cinnamon. I mashed it up with a spoon in a bowl and put it on a heated nonstick pan with butter on it. I used a small, thin pan over the lowest setting on the smallest gas burner we have. No problems with burning, sticking, or flipping here. They were dense, thin, and tasted like fried peanut butter! My picky non-paleo man seemed to enjoy them with his nutella. They started breaking apart when I added some shredded coconut. I think I’ll add more egg or egg white next time or maybe some baking powder to make them fluffier. Possibly baking would be better. Very good recipe, since it’s hard for me to get a recipe to turn out well. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs9JZayv4xA
It’s easy to get plantains and bananas mixed up. While plantains are part of the banana family and the two look alike, plantains are not sweet, and instead are used mostly as a starchy vegetable. Think of plantain chips as veggie chips. They are often sliced and baked with olive oil and salt, creating a nice crunch. Lots of supermarkets carry different versions of plantain chips, but not all plantain chips are Paleo, so you’ll want to check the ingredients before buying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFYJLWGqR_0
You might think that the best part of these brownies is that you don’t have to bake them, but the real wow factor is that they combine two of the most popular desserts into one. You’re getting chocolate chip cookies and brownies in one package, and they’re layered on top of each other, so your taste buds get the flavor from each one. There are actually three layers to this, one that is mostly brownie, one that is mostly chocolate chip, and a middle layer that is a sort of hybrid of the two. Have this with some Paleo ice cream to really send yourself to the limits of deliciousness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxF2u_3URxs
The blender turned out to be the simple solution: We processed all of the liquid ingredients until the mixture was frothy, then added the dry ingredients and processed the batter for a minute longer. Mixing everything in the blender had multiple benefits: It streamlined the recipe, incorporated air into the batter to make fluffier pancakes, and ensured that the batter was perfectly smooth and pourable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PitZcopXOA

They’ve taken the approach of using meat to replace the crust of the pizza, which cuts out the grains and makes this one meaty pizza pie. The crust is made from Italian sausage, so it’s going to be massively flavorful, and a little spicey. They recommend using a sugar-free pizza sauce, which on Paleo you don’t want to eat any refined sugar, so this is a good recommendation to follow. They’ve made sure to include a bunch of vegetables in this “meatizza” so you are still going to get your nutritional needs met, in addition to all of that meat.

I think granola bars are pretty healthy so my kids and I eat them for snacks all the time. They aren’t just for breakfast anymore. These granola bars come together quickly and are so easy to make. Chopping the nuts is the most time-consuming part and you probably know that isn’t very hard. You can use whatever nuts you like or have on hand. You can forget the chocolate if you’d like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xU0XX4beBk
