Do you ever find yourself craving something you loved pre-Paleo, but you just haven’t found the right Paleo version to satisfy you? It was like that for us and pancakes for a long time, but after a recent Paleo pancake binge, we’re bringing you a list of 15 of the best recipes! We also made sure to include a good assortment of sweet and savoury, as well as some odd balls that just so happen to be completely irresistible. Enjoy!
If you’re a big fan of chips, you’ll be happy to know that you don’t have to give them up when following the Paleo diet. While you may not be able to incorporate your favorite brands from childhood or run by the convenience store for a quick snack bag, fruit and veggie chips are a much healthier and lighter alternative. Although you can find pricey bags of these types of chips at most grocery stores today, the ingredient list can be questionable. Compared to the equivalent, make-at-home fruit and veggie chips will provide your body with energizing nutrients. Here are some recipes for chips that you can feel good about eating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnLc95VpW5Q
Kale chips make a great snack because they don’t contain anything that’s unhealthy for you. In this recipe she’s simply using curly kale and olive oil, so you are getting all of the benefits of kale, without any hydrogenated oils or industrial grade salt. You won’t believe how crispy and crunchy kale gets when you bake it until you try it. And since it is loaded with fiber, and has respectable amounts of potassium, with Vitamin A and Vitamin C levels that are off the charts, this is one of the healthiest snacks around. It’s also low in calories and fat, and the olive oil only adds healthy fat to the equation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U1qQM2vV_E
Porridge is a nice way to start the day because it is warm, a little bit sweet, and it stays with you through the entire morning. But if you are following a traditional porridge recipe you won’t get too far while on Paleo. All of the necessary modifications have been made in this version so you can enjoy it without worrying if you are staying within the guidelines. Eggs, flour, coconut milk, and seasonings have combined to make one yummy porridge. This can serve as a standalone breakfast without any meat eaten at the same time. Paleo does focus on a meat and vegetable balance, but breakfast can be a lighter meal.

These apple chips are baked, not fried, so you’re already coming out on top compared to eating a bag of potato chips. Since you won’t be eating potatoes on Paleo it’s good to come up with a better alternative. These apple chips will have a sweetness to them, satisfying both your crunchy cravings as well as your sweet tooth. The best part is they only use two ingredients, apples and cinnamon, so there’s never any doubt as to whether these are healthy or not. Paleo isn’t very fruit centric, but you should be having at least one serving of fruit per day, and this can be it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5XTj6D8zfQ
One other thing to note here is that I pre-make some of these ingredients, which takes time, but at least it’s not taking time in the middle of the day when I’m trying to work or rush out the door. Also, I don’t mind eating food cold. I know a lot of people can’t stomach the idea of eating cold meat, although that really confuses me because Subway makes billions of dollars every year selling cold meat. Anyway, you can always heat these things up at work or home. And without further ado… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcTWSdjFz9Y
This recipe does its best to replicate the chocolate Hostess brand donuts, but in a way that gets rid of the lousy ingredients and replaces them with wholesome ones. They contain wonderful things like medjool dates, eggs, and coconut flour, rather than what you’ll find in a package of Hostess donettes. The main ingredient in those is sugar, followed by partially hydrogenated vegetable oil which provides trans fat, and wheat flour. Not a good snack to get into the habit of eating, but these replicas won’t set you back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wG3b3ql34A
Hi I am back! I just thought I’d share this with you. I am pre-diabetic. This morning, I was intent on making your pancakes, and I did, shared with my sons. I did not check my blood sugar before, but I thought I’d check it around two hours after. (It’s been 2-1/2 hrs, I believe). I still am full (ate 6 of them pancakes topped with butter and real maple syrup). I expected to see around 110++ because of the bananas, nuts, and maple syrup. Guess what? 99!!! and I am still full. But I gotta keep trying to eat 3 meals a day. Maybe light lunch in another hour… :)
I had to follow your link to the crepe pan out of curiosity! Do you know if it works well for making roti? We have a legit Indian roti pan and I’ve been asked several times over the years by friends and family where to find a “roti pan” or if they can just use their cast iron skillet? This seems like it’s pretty close in comparison and sells for a reasonable price!
Thank you for posting this! I have been practicing the paleo diet on and off for a few months and getting little cravings in between is hard because I know I can’t eat junk. This saves a lot of time and energy and I feel better knowing there are fun and easy paleo snacks to make without breaking your diet! Do you have any other ideas that may be easy and quick to make to save time and energy? Thanks :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FpxXPQ4dhc
If you’re craving pasta, veggie noodles, also known as zoodles, will be your fix. Veggie noodles are basically just vegetables, most often zucchini, squash, and sweet potato, that are cut or spiraled to create a noodle-like texture and shape. Since Paleo is such a big health movement right now, veggie noodles can be found at most supermarkets, but Whole Foods has pre-spiraled and prepackaged options that make for a quick low-stress meal. Vegetables are a main staple in the Paleo diet and for good reason. They are full of vitamins and leave you feeling satisfied.
These tiny tacos are served up on jicama shells. The rest of the ingredients are placed in the slow cooker until the meat is just right. That means you can pop it in a few hours before the big game, and serve them up when everyone has arrived. They are billed as being great sports food, because they are smaller than a traditional taco, so they’re mini sized and good for serving. But they still have plenty of flavor thanks to all of the cilantro, garlic, lines, and oregano. The jicama shells really help to avoid the use of a flour tortilla.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this paleo pancake recipe. My toddler’s diet had to be altered for health reasons and pancakes are one of her favourite breakfast items. I’ve been so stressed out trying to find recipes that she loves and this one is a keeper. She and I included absolutely love these pancakes! She’s at a picky toddler age… and I eat them because they’re so delicious! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhW4Cg7Yfuw
These were great Libby.Seeing I’m on sugar free September I was craving carbs as my go to sweet thing, 85v% chocolate, is off limits as it too has a little suagr in it from memory.. The half a banana in my portion I shared with my husband won’t hurt. Had Greek Yoghurt and strawberries with them and am full and satisfied. BTW this recipe made 8 small panckaes (I call them pikelets).
These mini pizzas are great to have as a snack, at a party, for watching the big game, as a lunch, or a dinner, depending on how many of them you eat at one time. They are made with a crust that is formed with almond flour, so they’re Paleo friendly, and they are topped simply with tomato paste and some blue cheese, so you get the rich and tangy taste of blue cheese in each bite. You’ll want to go with a goat’s milk variety of blue cheese, if you go this route at all. Some Paleo eaters can handle small amounts of cheese on occasion.
