Any time I see a grain-free recipe for pancakes that says “like REAL pancakes” I always hope “Yes, maybe this is THE ONE!” But like all the others, it’s not. Comments on here saying that there was a strong baking soda taste were correct. I even added in chocolate chips to cover it a bit (still there!) and followed some tips I saw in the comments–I mixed the dry ingredients together then ran them through a mesh strainer (twice!) to make sure everything was well incorporated, added a bit of vanilla and cinnamon, like I used to with regular pancakes, and folded the egg whites at the end to keep the pancakes fluff(ier). I will give them that: they stayed thick, and folding in the egg whites did help most of them from getting too dense (but never fluffy like a real pancake). Then again, mine definitely didn’t come out like the video batter–it was closer to a cookie dough consistency. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBhI-tjhei4

These are excellent. My sister is eating Paleo and loves them. I love them because my husband and I are diabetic and these are very low in carbs. They have a nice banana-bread flavor and are so easy to make and keep quite well. I am going to add some cinnamon and nutmeg to them to see how enhancing that flavor impacts it. I might also add some finely chopped walnuts for the same reason.

This flatbread pizza is billed as being grain free and nut free, which is interesting because many Paleo pizza crusts will contain almond flour to replace ordinary flour. This recipe uses sunflower seed flour, a very unique choice for a white flour substitute, and it combines that with tapioca flour to live up to the nut-free promise. You are free to add your own toppings, or go with what they’ve used, including fresh tomatoes, spinach leaves, and season things up with oregano, basil, and garlic powder. It’s nice to have a guilt-free delicious flatbread crust recipe to have on-hand anytime you get a pizza craving.

Blending these Paleo pancakes in the blender is what helps make them fluffy, so don’t skip this essential step. Let the pan heat up on medium heat for at least 5 minutes, so it’s hot enough before you add the almond flour batter. And make sure you coat your pan well with coconut oil and turn the heat down to medium-low, otherwise the pancakes will stick to the pan making them hard to flip.
Beef jerky is no longer the synthetic, smelly, and sticky beef chunks found at your local gas station. Jerky has had a major makeover and is now the darling of health foodies everywhere, thanks to its variety of flavors and meat options, like turkey and chicken, with their high protein and vitamins. Some notable Paleo jerky brands are Sophia’s Survival Foods Jerky Chews, Steve’s Original, and Nick’s Sticks, which all offer grass-fed and organic jerky.
Hi Kirsty, I recommend any diet that encourages clean eating and avoiding processed food. It doesn’t really matter which one. The more from scratch you cook the better. You can also talk to a trainer to work out some exercise specifically for fat burning just make sure to measure your belly/thighs or wherever you want to loose weight to NOT worry about weight but rather body shape. Muscle weighs more than fat so you might not loose weight but loose fat and become leaner. Diet and exercise go hand in hand. One won’t work without the other. Most importantly though….go you for carrying 3 human beings in your amazing body be kind to yourself and your body, it’s done a hell of a lot of amazing work :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeEcNmmiyNM
Hey Gabrielle.. the whole world is confusing when it comes to people telling us what’s right/ what’s not right and what’s healthy/ what’s not healthy. Your better off basing your diet on how your body feels after eating something (tired, bloated, sinus problems, how you feel emotionally, great or satisfied etc) Your body tells you awesome stuff about the things you eat if you pay attention to it.
Best stuff ever. I swear. There’s so many different HEALTHY flavors of jerky and meat sticks and even ones for kids! I love their traditional beef jerky and I can’t stop eating the cilantro lime flavored sticks. The date and rosemary flavor is pretty freaking amazing as well. There’s so many options that there’s no way you won’t find something you can’t get enough of! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDs5M-i4GOA
Now, there are lots of people who feel iffy about snacking. And I get that. The snacks many of us were brought up and traditionally reach for (animal crackers, pretzels, cheese flavored crackers) are kind of just filling up the belly instead of actually feeding the body what it is actually asking for...which is nutrients and protein! Since moving our family to a mostly-Paleo way of eating a few years ago, our snacking game has totally changed!  Out with the starchy crackers. In with real food, nutrient dense nibbles! Nibbles that a little growing body will actually put to good use! That will actually keep them going until their next meal....with their sanity (and your's) intact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DwSUL-i8i0
So glad you commented! I get so excited when I see other local people making healthy lifestyle changes. Making a change as a family is a great way to motivate each other. My dad was a major reason I went Paleo, and we keep each other on track in all aspects of health! About your question, this mayo is definitely tastier and healthier than store bought mayo. I absolutely despise regular mayo, and I love this recipe. If you aren’t a big fan of chicken salad, this might not be the first recipe to start; although the flavor is pretty mild. You can find more in the recipe index though. And yes about Vive! It’s honestly my favorite food place in Mandeville area. The lunch is delicious and they have a restaurant upstairs called Opal Basil. The food is divine!! Feel free to ask any more questions. Good luck in nursing school!

This is a great way to start your day and feel like you really ate a full meal. Eating Paleo means eating until you feel content, not starving yourself or depriving yourself of a full-sized meal. This breakfast burger is packed with wonderful breakfast foods that will not only keep you satisfied but will also make sure you aren’t cheating on your diet. You’re getting super foods like avocado, eggs, and fresh kale, which work nicely together and provide a good mix of protein, vitamins, and minerals. The avocados have potassium, the eggs have protein and minerals, and the kale has plenty of fiber and other good things for your body.
Move over, Doritos; there’s a new ranch chip in town and it’s actually healthy for you. These kale chips are seasoned with zesty ranch flavor from dill, garlic, and lemon juice. Plus, they’re made with only clean ingredients, unlike Doritos (hello, MSG!). Although these chips do list sugar on the ingredients panel, it only comes in at 3 grams per 1-ounce serving.
Making these for the first time right now! I was so excited to get them in the pan I forgot the cinnamon. I don’t have a skillet and didnt know what the equivalent of 350* was on my gas stove top so I did them in a sauté pan on (2 to 3-low) and they came out great. They don’t look as nice as yours but they’re delicious. I want to make them for my vegan sister, do you know if they work with Egg Replacer? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BiHLAQTZvI
