Tacos can be tricky to make Paleo, but they’ve figured out a good way here by using portobello mushroom caps for the shells. These caps do a good job of holding all of the yummy taco-inspired ingredients, and by the time you finish one of these you’ll feel satisfied, and like you just had Taco Night. The thick texture of the mushrooms means you can pile on the taco toppings and you won’t have to worry about breaking the shell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyiH1xtmN_w

Whole eggs and egg whites help the pancakes rise and set once cooked. A little bit of ghee (browned clarified butter) helps add tenderness to the batter. Baking soda and cream of tarter work together and chemical leavening agents help the pancakes rise as soon as it hits the hot pan. Honey is added for a hint of sweetness and encourages quicker browning on the surface.
This is a wonderful green bean salad that will be bursting with flavor. Go with organic green beans and you’ll be able to tell the difference in how they taste. The additional ingredients are all Paleo inspired, with walnuts as a source of healthy fat, something that you’re supposed to get enough of each day you’re on Paleo. She’s also using a red onion, and olive oil. Olive oil is additional healthy fat, and the Paleo diet is one of the few diets out there that places such a primary importance on getting healthy fats into your body. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoepvUQlRzo
Porridge is a nice way to start the day because it is warm, a little bit sweet, and it stays with you through the entire morning. But if you are following a traditional porridge recipe you won’t get too far while on Paleo. All of the necessary modifications have been made in this version so you can enjoy it without worrying if you are staying within the guidelines. Eggs, flour, coconut milk, and seasonings have combined to make one yummy porridge. This can serve as a standalone breakfast without any meat eaten at the same time. Paleo does focus on a meat and vegetable balance, but breakfast can be a lighter meal.
If you’re looking for a beef Paleo dish that comes out looking fantastic, like something you’d want to serve company, you’ll want to go with this braised bottom round roast. It is made with a whopping 3 pounds of grass fed beef bottom round, and has plenty of sweet potatoes, so you’ll be getting the fiber needed to help all of that meat make it through your system. An onion is added for good measure, and there are plenty of sage leaves used for flavor. She’s also using plenty of garlic, so you know that this roast will be noticeable on your palate.
With this crock pot recipe you can create a cashew chicken dish that will rival anything that you can buy from your local Chinese restaurant. The great thing is that because it is using the slow cooker it is going to be a really easy as far as preparation goes. You won’t have to babysit this, all that’s needed is to place the ingredients into the pot and let it cook itself for 3 to 4 hours. The great thing is they’ve used things like arrowroot starch instead of a breading made from wheat. It’s simple and subtle changes like this that can turn a Paleo no-no into a Paleo yum-yum.
Hi, Jackie, I’m afraid it’s not possible for me to know where you went wrong since I’m not there with you. If you didn’t make any substitutions and measured by weight, then the most likely problem is the quality of your ingredients. Did you use good-quality blanched almond flour, or did you attempt to use almond meal, perhaps from Bob’s Red Mill. That simply won’t work, as Bob’s Red Mill products are of very inconsistent quality and their almond flour in particular is quite poor.

John, wasn't it just amazing chicken? So much better than your typical oven baked chicken and on par if not better than gas or even charcoal grilled. It gets that smokey charcoal tasted and overnight koshering definitely helps, something I do when time permits. First-time I've pierced a whole chicken minus the times I make jerk chicken on the grill. Yup, the cast iron was not an issue.
These are the best gluten free pancakes I’ve ever had… and maybe the best pancakes ever, period! They are so good! I added an overripe banana and decreased the coconut milk a tad to keep the consistency right. I topped them with whipped coconut cream and fresh strawberries. OMG. I want to eat them every day from now on. THANK YOU! I wish there was a way to post a picture, because they actually turned out beautifully browned and round, too, which is hard to come by in most grain free pancakes in my experience! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsNAQwZfagA
This could be the perfect trail mix. It’s full of crunch from a variety of nuts, sweetness from coconut flakes and banana chips and just the right amount of chocolate to curb those cravings. It comes together right in the slow cooker, so your kitchen will smell amazing! Be sure to use coconut oil or ghee instead of butter here to keep it strictly Paleo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrjjJnfLxC0
Butternut squash is great for you, kale is fantastic for you, so in this recipe you’re already starting off on the right foot. Next, add in some beef and you’re doing just dandy in regards to Paleo eating. That’s because you’re getting plenty of nutrition from the kale and squash, as well as the requisite protein from the beef, so you’ll feel satiated at the end of the bowl, and this is a stew that eats like a meal because it is a meal, it just happens to be in a bowl. You brown the meat in bacon fat, giving it wild amounts of flavor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iMM4Cx_bKk

These fig bars have a lot going on, and your taste buds are sure to thank you for such a nice midday treat. At the same time they are loaded with healthy things like apples, peaches, and the figs themselves. They’ve removed any trace of grains, and are using coconut flour to put them into bar form, with just the right amount of honey to make these sweet but not overly so. The use of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger really balances out the flavor profile for these, and you can eat them between breakfast and lunch, or between lunch and dinner so they’re very good to have handy.
OK George so I finally found a recipe easy enough to try and all I can say is “All I Want For Christmas is a Blendtec!” I’ve been wanting to make my own nut butters but a regular old food processor does not do the trick. So I improvised and used almond meal. I also can’t eat that many pancakes so I used 2 bananas 2 eggs and 1/2 C almond meal. Then some stuff like ginger, nutmeg. They tasted great but fell apart. Not to worry I will try it again with the nut butter. Thank you!
I am a paleo beginner and I have to say these were amazing and so simple. I LOVE banana bread and since starting paleo last week I have really been missing my breads. I was getting sick of eggs, veggies, and almonds so I turned to the internet and was very pleased to find these. You do have to be patient though! but man, they are just what I need for a breakfast on the go. I also made the muffins that one of the comments suggested and they were great as well! You can’t eat them warm, because they taste like banana flavored quiche, but I let them cool completely and I could not tell a difference between them and my favorite banana bread recipe. LOVE it! Thank you for this!!
Yes, the egg is raw, and raw egg is perfectly safe to consume, so long as you trust the source of your eggs. Anything you buy from a grocery store should be set, and if you get them from the Farmer’s Market or grow your own, just make sure you wash the shell VERY WELL before using raw egg, as this is where most of the contaminate comes from. (The shell isn’t sterile, you crack the egg, the shell contacts the egg and leaves some salmonella behind, the egg is now unsafe) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGuSj4IEdks
Of course, snacking is completely optional on a Paleo diet. In fact, many people end up naturally eating only two meals per day, but it doesn’t mean that snacking is a bad idea, especially if the snack only contains healthy ingredients and prevents you from indulging with bad foods. They can also be great when on the go or as something to eat post workout. Just remember that your snacks should respect the basic principles of Paleo. This means that most fruits and nuts should be consumed only in moderation. Most fruits are high in the sugar fructose, which is toxic in higher doses and most nuts are high in polyunsaturated fat (PUFA), especially the omega-6 PUFA. Refer to my article on nuts and seeds to know about the best choices. This also means that snacks containing mainly saturated fat or animal protein are usually great.
Making these for the first time right now! I was so excited to get them in the pan I forgot the cinnamon. I don’t have a skillet and didnt know what the equivalent of 350* was on my gas stove top so I did them in a sauté pan on (2 to 3-low) and they came out great. They don’t look as nice as yours but they’re delicious. I want to make them for my vegan sister, do you know if they work with Egg Replacer?
Anytime you keep things simple you’ll be keeping them Paleo. Think about it: early man didn’t complicate things because they couldn’t complicate things. They had to use what was around them, whatever that would have been. They also didn’t have well-equipped kitchens like we have, so their cooking style would have been rudimentary, yet effective. This tomato soup only adds a few different items plus some seasonings to fresh, ripe tomatoes so it’s going to really pop in your mouth, and the tomato flavor will be front and center. Luckily we have things like immersion blenders to make quick work of the preparation process.

Avocados make a great snack all by themselves, but they can be a little bland sometimes, and this is a great way to doll them up so they’re even tastier. This uses Greek yogurt, which is a fermented form of dairy and considered acceptable by some following the Paleo plan. Others see it as dairy is dairy and don’t eat it, so it’s up to you to decide if you want to incorporate a bit of fermented dairy like Greek yogurt into your diet or not. The rest of the recipe is just a bit of seasoning to help the avocado out in the flavor department.
Get yourself a top round roast and slice it as thinly as you can (or get your butcher to do it). The best jerky is made with just a few ingredients (but everyone’s taste buds are different). You’ll want to combine coconut aminos, some spices, and coconut sugar (yes, it isn’t totally Paleo; you can use honey instead). If you want the flavor that liquid smoke imparts, feel free to add it in. Put all the ingredients into a bowl, throw in the meat, stir it around, cover it, and put it in your fridge for at least 12 hours.
If you thought pulled pork sliders were off the menu, you were wrong. You just have to find creative workarounds when you are making Paleo recipes. In this case they’ve replaced hamburger buns with sliced sweet potato, which gets the wheat out. They haven’t skimped on the pulled pork which is going to taste just like you’d expect it to if you ordered a pulled pork sandwich from a barbecue joint. Creativity is one of the main and factors when you are eating Paleo because nothing is really off limits, you just have to figure out how you can have it.
A roulade is just a fancy French name for a rolled up food, and in this case they are rolling up a chicken with prosciutto and pesto. That means when you cut the chicken into slices, you’ll get a nice presentation because it will seem like the chicken has been stuffed with the prosciutto and pesto. Pesto is a great way to enhance any meal, and you can make a Paleo friendly version quite easily. They provide a pesto sauce recipe for you to follow. They have cauliflower used as a side dish so you’re getting not only your meat, but also your vegetables. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlKj2aWp0F4
It’s easy to get plantains and bananas mixed up. While plantains are part of the banana family and the two look alike, plantains are not sweet, and instead are used mostly as a starchy vegetable. Think of plantain chips as veggie chips. They are often sliced and baked with olive oil and salt, creating a nice crunch. Lots of supermarkets carry different versions of plantain chips, but not all plantain chips are Paleo, so you’ll want to check the ingredients before buying.
Ah breakfast, the meal that seems to be defined by eggs and pancakes and one we always seem to skip. I am guilty as charged for skipping breakfast or keeping it defined to the few basics. One of my most valuable lesson since starting to eat Paleo, is knowing that I can have anything I want for breakfast and it's ok. Today though, I choose these perfect paleo pancakes.
Just tried this recipe for the first time. It was fantastic!! Even my non-paleo American boyfriend loved them! I’m pretty new to Paleo and have decided not to give up drinking and just drink vodka lime sodas if there is a social occasion. There are those times you wake up hung over and just feel like you need pancakes. Super happy i have this recipe to fall back on! Thanks so much really enjoying your website!
Best paleo pancakes ever. I have been trying different recipes over the last couple years and this is the only one that we plan to make again. I also noticed a bit of a funky after taste but I know for a fact its my baking soda. Its old and i didnt use a blender. So some bites had more than others. This was a hit for the whole family! I’m really glad we stumbled upon your site! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A-WD-kz-o4
Halloween has come and gone, but there’s still time to get your squash on! Ground flax seed, vanilla protein powder and egg whites pack on the protein, while pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin puree provide a double-punch of its heartwarming flavor. Top with pepitas and honey for a delicious and festive feast. Photo and recipe: Gina / Running to the Kitchen
The only thing better than a slice of carrot cake is a carrot cake pancake—and a healthy one at that. Made with only seven ingredients, these pancakes are everything you love about carrot cake minus the cream cheese frosting (which you can make up for with coconut whipped cream). Similar to flipping with berries, we say leave the walnuts for topping, as adding them to the batter can make them a bit heavy—and a bit of a pain in the butt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mybgoG_DHZk
One thing that can be perceived negatively though is that most of the more elaborate snack options, while delicious, take more time to be able to enjoy than simply grabbing a box at the grocery store and eating its contents. Unfortunately, not many ready-made snacking options available in stores are made of only non-toxic and nutritious ingredients. Remember that the extra time spent in the kitchen is a very small price to pay for lifelong health and well-being. Fortunately for us though, as the Paleo movement is getting more and more popular, some high-quality products are starting to become available online. For example, Steve’s PaleoGoods is a line of products available right now that offer grain-free and sugar-free Paleo snacks like beef jerky and trail mixes.
This recipe couldn’t be more perfectly named, as these Paleo pancakes are in fact magic. Simply plop the ingredients in a blender (may we never mash a banana again), cook, and top with all-natural raspberry syrup—which is as easy to make as the pancakes themselves. This flour-free recipe can yield somewhat flat pancakes, so we say add a dash of baking powder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wuGt3dNB6g
These chips are made from parsnips, and most new Paleo followers will probably have a very limited experience with the parsnip. It does find its way into a lot of Paleo cooking because it can be used in many different ways. Don’t knock it till you try it, because they tend to take on the surrounding flavors, in this case yummy maple syrup and coconut oil. So while you may have ignored parsnips a thousand times before, maybe it’s time to give them a chance. You may end up liking them, especially since you can’t go wrong when they’re baked in fat and sugar.

Everybody gets their own mini personal pizza when you cook up these squash pizzas. Each slice of squash becomes a tiny sized pizza that is loaded up with Paleo friendly toppings. It’s a great way to use up that butternut squash you bought, and simply requires that you top them up with items that you like. They’re recommending meats and veggies so you can keep it Paleo, and really as long as you stick with those two types of foods you’ll be doing just fine.
These are sirloin rolls have brussel sprouts and fennel as sidekicks, but the sirloin is going to get top billing as the star of the show. Making sirloin rolls can be tricky unless you know how to do it, and they’ve provided helpful instructions here so yours will come out looking just like theirs. They have bacon rolled up with the sirloin, so you’re going to get plenty of flavor, and it’s nice that they have matched all of this meat with Brussels sprouts, one of the healthiest vegetables around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IRx9zlEMOk
When I first developed this recipe for Paleo pancakes, I used a tiny bit of coconut flour rather than tapioca starch/flour for structure. The batter was thicker, especially as it sat out, as coconut flour has that tendency, and it was almost impossible to make smaller pancakes. By replacing the coconut flour with a Paleo-friendly starch, the pancakes still have structure but the batter is more flexible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-i2oZWK2pM
These are delicious! I didn’t have any coconut flour so I used 1/4 of all plant protein powder and they turned out great. I did separate the egg whites and beat them separately. I couldn’t believe how light and fluffy they were, although they were pretty delicate and wanted to fall apart. Next time I think I would add in some starch or binder to hold them together a bit more.

Stack these bacon breakfast sandwiches nice and tall and you’ll have a formidable breakfast you’ll want to slow down for. The key is starting with a Paleo-approved bread and using thick cut bacon. Cutting the bacon nice and thick gives it a different quality than typical breakfast bacon and you’ll get more meaty flavor in each bite. Top the bacon with an egg, and add in some fresh spinach so you’re getting a serving of veggies too.
These night be my favorite paleo pancakes I have tried, they don’t taste soggy, or of eggs which has been the case with many other recipes! I started with whole almonds in my vitamix then added the rest it worked out just fine. I cooked them in my cast iron skillet without a problem I think the trick is not to tuch them until it is time to turn them over. Thanks for the recipe!
If you’re looking for a beef Paleo dish that comes out looking fantastic, like something you’d want to serve company, you’ll want to go with this braised bottom round roast. You can’t go wrong with curried cashews, as cashews are one of the more popular Paleo Nuts, and curry is a Paleo approved spice. They use honey to add a bit of sweetness to these, which only makes them more satisfying because it can hit your craving for sweet as well as savory. The best part is you can make a big batch of these and then divvy them up into smaller containers to use throughout the following week. They also point out that you can make curried pecans instead, if you happen to have pecans on hand and not cashews.

This sweet potato is stuffed with beef and blueberries, a combination that you may not have ever seen before. They all combine to form a very well-balanced Paleo meal, and you’re getting tons of antioxidants both from the blueberries and the sweet potatoes. The beef gives you protein, while sweet potatoes are a carbohydrate that is digested slowly by the body. There is just as much sweet potatoes as there is beef, with just a bit of blueberries added for good measure. This makes for a microcosm of what it’s like to eat a perfectly portioned Paleo meal.

Get your shawarma fix satisfied without ruining your dieting efforts with this Paleo approved chicken shawarma. It isn’t cooked the way traditional shawarma is, but it is still grilled, which gives it a nice flavor, and it is using a blend of spices that will give you the taste that you’re seeking out when you’re in shawarma mode. That’s because it’s marinated, so the flavors have a chance to soak into the chicken. He’s even provided a recipe for Paleo friendly hummus, so you can dip the pieces of chicken into that, or simply eat them solo.
No time for a tropical vacation? Make these coconut and pineapple pancakes instead! Mix all the ingredients in a blender and combine freeze-dried pineapple and coconut sugar for a sweet topping. To make this recipe paleo-approved, be sure to swap the baking powder (which contains non-paleo cornstarch) for one of these simple substitutions. Photo and recipe: Carol Kicinski / Simply Gluten-Free https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dp4eauYLoYc
Baking powder, on the other hand, typically contains cornstarch, which isn’t appropriate for a Paleo diet. If you can’t purchase Paleo baking powder, made with an appropriate starch, it’s so easy to make yourself with 1 part baking soda, 2 parts cream of tartar and 1/2 part arrowroot or tapioca starch/flour. If you aren’t that strict, though, just use “regular” gluten free baking powder. I won’t tell.

"While trying many of the grain free pancake ideas out there, I discovered that many pancake recipes are just too 'eggy' or include bananas in the recipe. A lot of the recipes resulted in pancakes that were too flat and broke apart when flipping. I wanted a recipe that was like the Aunt Jemima® pancakes I grew up with: delicious and fluffy. After much experimentation with recipes and reading forum comments, I finally put together something reminiscent of childhood quality pancakes. Top with maple syrup and fresh fruit." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Isfh0AtkZd0
