We’ve made these a couple times now and the 2nd time they were amazing!! The first time, I tasked my daughter, a self-proclaimed baker, with making them. We didn’t have any eggs in the house so I made an egg replacement using flax/water. She thought she was using parchment paper but actually used wax paper to line the pan. OOPS!! So the 1st batch were a flop. Definitely stick with making them SMALL!! She opted for large cookies and they spread out to cover almost the entire cookie sheet. So the next time, I made them myself with an egg, parchment paper, and kept them small. Like I said, they were amazing!! I’m low carving, so I used Xylitol as my sweetener and didn’t use quite as much as the recipe called for simply because I prefer things a little less sweet these days–I’m turning into my Grandma! When I was in my teens she suggested not adding as much sugar as recipes called for (Grandpa was diabetic at that point) and I thought she was crazy. Now I’m in my 40s and my taste buds have totally changed. But anyway! Thanks so much for a delicious recipe! They definitely hit the sweet spot of my craving!

They do take a bit of time to make, so maybe not the best choice if you are looking for something fast to make to lessen your hunger pangs. Hey I just been learning about what the paleo diet is and while I like the natural food aspect of it. I can say with scientific knowledge that cavemen did eat certain grains. They just aren’t the same as modern grains. For instance cavemen made and ate popcorn. Kernals have been found in caves, dated to over 6,500 years ago. Also later cavemen gathered grain and made bread. (though it wasn’t like our bread today, different grains and no yeast) It has been discovered from 30,000 years ago, 10,000 years ago corn was domesticated. The difference between people eating grains in prehistoric times and today is that we have domesticated the grains and bred them into a different species. Not only that but many of our grains are processed and other chemicals are added. This is the problem not the grains themselves unless you are allergic to them. Many people are allergic to modern wheat but can eat buckwheat. However one of the oldest breads was actually made with barley grain.
Similarly, any foods that were not easily available to Paleolithic humans are off-limits in this diet, Holley explains. That means processed foods — many of which contain added butter, margarine, and sugar — should not be a part of the paleo diet. The same goes for dairy, which may not have been accessible to Paleolithic humans, and legumes, which many proponents of the diet believe are not easily digestible by the body.
I am a 41 year old woman who has been healthy my whole life but was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism, sjogrens syndrome and more frighteningly, relapsing polychondritis. That is an autoimmune disease where the body destroys it’s cartilage. It is rheumatic, aggressive and there is no cure. Eyes, ears, nose, heart valves, kidneys, spine, entire tracheobronchial tree are affected. It is normally fatal when the airways collapse. Of course im on humira, after 6 other medications failed to bring relief from the chronic extreme inflammation. My hair is falling out at an alarming rate. I began researching paleo and autoimmune disease and realized I could reverse every bit of this and send these diseases into remission by getting off the grains and carbs and dairy. And GLUTEN. Its all a bit overwhelming but I bought a cookbook and have been reading here a lot and for the first time in years, my pain is a 2 out of 10 after 2 weeks of cutting gluten and dairy and sugar. Ive literally eaten nothing but lean protein and low glycemic fruits and veggies. Also a lot of eggs and lots of water. I know it has taken many years to get in the wretched shape I am in with autoimmune disease and I can’t reverse it overnight but it is now my mission. My husband and kids are feeling better already as well. Cant wait to ditch the humira and steroids. Thank you!!

store,then the hike and chase involved in hunting with a spear could be maybe even more chalenging. so yea i’m still a firm beliver in getting pleanty of exercise over any diet is the key to healthy living, the rest is more moderation in what you injest. granted some diets can help ease the new health problems poping up and being an epidemic problem in the 20th centry, choosing to stay away from prcessed foods and drink as much as possible is also a good idea, but then again not a big problem in moderation. a few times a month to eat fast food and soda’s no prolem, a cupple times a week still not too wory, but a few times a day watch out you are in for some truble, espacialy if you do not exercise regularly.
