When it comes to selecting the best fats to include in your paleo diet, almost any natural source is acceptable. This includes refined animal fats (choose naturally-raised, organic varieties), nuts oils (except for peanut which isn’t a nut), avocados and all parts of the coconut. Always avoid processed fats that contain harmful trans fats and try to ensure that you’re consuming a good balance of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids to minimize inflammation within your body. To help you to do this, avoid seed oils such as canola, soybean and vegetables oils and include fatty fish in your diet regularly.

I think granola bars are pretty healthy so my kids and I eat them for snacks all the time. They aren’t just for breakfast anymore. These granola bars come together quickly and are so easy to make. Chopping the nuts is the most time-consuming part and you probably know that isn’t very hard. You can use whatever nuts you like or have on hand. You can forget the chocolate if you’d like.
Place the chocolate shards into a glass mixing bowl. You have two options for melting the chocolate: use a double boiler or a microwave. Most folks don’t own a double boiler, but you can make your own by grabbing a metal or glass bowl that fits snugly in a medium saucepan. Hi Kate! While I still use blanched almonds occasionally, I do use raw organic almonds, with skins, for most of my almond flour needs! Since I eat raw almonds with skins often, I don’t see how grinding them into flour would make them toxic. I’ve actually never heard of that before! After doing a bit of internet research, I believe the almonds you’re thinking of are called “bitter” almonds, and as I understand it, they are not the type of almonds you’ll find in any grocery store (because they’re toxic!).
So I’m not one to make my food in football shapes. Or use dye to color my food in my favorite teams colors. Probably because I don’t have a favorite team. Just wanted to make sure you’re chilling the dough to make sure it’s very cold and also make sure your pan is cold. If I use two cookie sheets, I eat bwttwre results between batches rather than putting room temp dough on a warm cookie sheet. Take out when baked, the use parchment paper so you can quickly transfer the cookies on top of a cold granite counter top. That’s how mine come out perfect.

Banana peppers are really great because they give you a bit of spice but not so much as to be overpowering. A great pancake recipe is : 2 mashed bananas, 1 egg & 1 heaping Tablespoon almond butter. Just mix in a small processor, then fry “pancakes” at 300-325 degrees on a skillet you have oiled with a little extra virgin olive oil. DO NOT TURN THEM TOO SOON! Let them set up a bit (and only flip one time to keep them from getting tough. I smash up some berries to replace the syrup or use the tiniest drizzle of honey on them. No on paleo diet but awesome cookies. My husband’s favorite and kids loved it too. Very crispy cookies. Used 1/2 cup of coconut oil to help it form better. Probably could have used a little less. Kids allergic to almond so used whole wheat pastry flour. Used Agave nectar 6 Tablespoons, added 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and 1 tablespoon of flax seed ground. By the way this is my favorite cookies. Next time I’ll try adding oats.

In a large bowl, add add in beaten egg, melted and cooled coconut oil, coconut sugar and vanilla extract. (Please make sure your coconut oil is cool!) Next add in almond flour, coconut flour and baking soda, mixing well to combine and form a dough. Fold in dark chocolate chunks. You may need to use your hands to moisten the dough so that it sticks together well.
Hi Maureen, the butter can be cold or room temp, I recommend cold if it is hot inside, as the butter will quickly soften. If your kitchen is cold you can let it soften a bit at room temp before creaming it with the sweetener. These cookies can be more flat or not as much depending on how big and mound like you make them when putting them on the baking sheet. Hi Stacey, This may seem like a silly question…but I love how you have the cookies stacked in the picture with the paper in between the cookies. What did you use and where did you get them? Did you cut your own from parchment? These look amazing..I am making these as part of a dessert display for a wedding. The bride will LOVE these..she is paleo all the way.
Being lactose and gluten and sugar intolerant, i am learning lots. look up why some aged cheeses are ok, you learn that the liquid portion is drained off removing the major portion of the lactose. For that reason some cheeses are ok foe those with the lactose affliction, lactose can be as low as 0.5% or less. look it up, don’t assume your opinion is fact.
These sweet and sour gummy candies are actually good for you. Pretty weird huh? They are really easy and actually a lot of fun to make. All you do is mix the ingredients, put them into a mold either by pouring or using a plastic bag with a small hole in the corner. Then either put them in the refrigerator or freezer to set depending on how big of a hurry you’re in. You could make them any shape or color you’d like. Hi Anne- thank you for trying them! Coconut sugar in very low glycemic so it’s much better for blood sugar than traditional sugar (of course), but even honey or maple syrup. I do understand that some people have to have sugar free though. I’m not familiar with stevia and I don’t think it converts 1:1. I have had good luck with Swerve sweetener which does evenly convert in recipes and I would suggest she tried that. It’s found in the baking aisle and of course on Amazon. Hope that helps!

I know! The ability to process dairy IS something that humans have adapted to! That’s lactose tolerance vs. intolerance. I am a lactose tolerant person, which by definition means that I still produce the enzyme lactase despite being over the age of 3, and I’m therefore able to process milk. Lactose tolerance is an example of the fact that humans are still evolving. It is a trait that has developed in Africa and Europe over the last few thousand years. Unless you drink extremely much, you always gotta remember, that your Liver keeps repairing itself, it is quite a magical Organ! Fructose is hard on the Liver as well… In the end, i’ve heard about people with Cirrhosis Liver, who never Drinks, just like i hear about people with Lung Cancer, who never Smoked!!! My baking soda is still fresh, i didn’t use ANY substitutions and i’ve double checked the recipe multiple times and according to it I made them correctly. There are a lot of errant assumptions with respect to our past. I cringe when I hear “cave man” I think historically only a very small number of humans would have lived in caves… but caves leave evidence behind much better than grasslands do. Milk: Food for infants but not juveniles and adults… evolution gives infants lactase enzyme and casein (opioid-like proteins) to keep them feeding but likely also discourages the juveniles and adult mammals from feeding on milk since they could out compete the infant–enter necessary lactose intolerance and milk protein allergies/sensitivities for the adults of most mammal species (If the older members of the species drink the milk then baby dies and species goes extinct) Nature engineers a solution and consequently human milk is good for a human baby-not adult, bovine milk good for a bovine baby-not adult etc. This engineered solution then plays out it’s subtle consequences over the lifetime of the human that consumes the bovine secretion (even if they’re not lactose intolerant)

I only remember how good they were. My two go-to desserts have been gluten free with no processed sugar. They are made with almond flour and coconut sugar instead. The coconut sugar is surprisingly really good in these recipes. I believe it can act much like brown sugar as its dark in color. These are such fun to make! I used regular sugar instead of coconut sugar because I was out. They are very quick to mix up (I didn’t wait for the nut butter or egg to come to room temperature because I am impatient) and very quick to bake. I appreciate easy, delicious, gluten free recipes that I can make with my kids and not end up irritated or with a huge mess to clean up! We will be making these again and often I suspect.
