I’ve made some other paleo sweets, none of which have been well received. He was so excited to help me make them and even more excited to help eat them! We made these this afternoon and they were great! My husband is fond of mint with chocolate so instead of chocolate pieces or chips, we used Andes Mints pieces which I have only found at Walmart. We used a 1″ cookie scoop and came out with 30+ cookies. We wanted them a little more crisp, so we cooked them longer than the recipe’s 10 minutes. If you focus on eating nothing but whole foods, exercising, and drinking no beverages except water, you’ll be doing yourself a huge favor and it won’t be very long before your body sheds its excess fat and becomes more resistant to obesity and just about every disease and ailment known to man. If you can afford it, eat only pasture raised animal products and organic plant products. They have much better nutritional value and they aren’t loaded up with GMOs and hormones and antibiotics and who knows what else. If finances restrict you to conventionally produced whole foods, you’ll still be taking in literally hundreds to thousands of beneficial nutrients that will absolutely turn your health around. Just focus on eating whole foods- meat, fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and yes, grains too. The paleo diet is a good springboard to healthy eating, but I question elimination of grains as they contain many beneficial nutrients. You can go gluten free without eliminating grains.

Ugh, I tried this recipe, but it was not good. I’d rate it a one star, just a bit above cardboard. Granted, I did not use Honeyville or nuts.com brand of almond flours suggested, but I did use a premium brand (Blue Diamond finely sifted flour) and even weighed out the ingredients to be certain I followed the recipe precisely. I don’t need paleo, but do need gluten-free. I have other cookie recipes that are great, and if a recipe is not great, I don’t want to waste my time or money on it. Sadly, I will not be making this again.
Fruit: nature’s sugar. As such, it’s far preferable to refined sugars and sugar products, but it’s also chock-full of fructose and therefore meant to be consumed in moderation. Still, fruit makes the basis of some awesome Paleo desserts and snacks. Consume one to three servings of fruit a day and limit high-sugar fruits to special indulgences. It’s also more beneficial to consume fruits in their raw, unaltered form—but we love smoothies, too.

Best stuff ever. I swear. There’s so many different HEALTHY flavors of jerky and meat sticks and even ones for kids! I love their traditional beef jerky and I can’t stop eating the cilantro lime flavored sticks. The date and rosemary flavor is pretty freaking amazing as well. There’s so many options that there’s no way you won’t find something you can’t get enough of!
Bell peppers are a member of the nightshade family and although some people don’t tolerate digesting them well, they are considered paleo as most people don’t experience any ill effects and only benefit from their high nutrient content. Amanda -I haven’t ever tried them with less baking soda, but you might be able to give it a try. Baking soda often helps cookies spread (baking powder often “puffs,” baking soda often “spreads”), so you’d probably have some spread differences. If they spread too much, you can head this off by adding an additional 1-2 Tbsp of flour to the batter. If they don’t spread, you might be able to use less flour to offset the problem. Again, I don’t know for sure since I haven’t tested them with less baking soda, but I’d love to know what you think if you give them a try. That means eating meat and animal products from animals raised in the most natural (or wild) conditions, eating plenty of varied vegetables and smaller amounts of fruit, nuts and seeds, and not being shy in adding generous amounts of healthy, stable fats to our fresh meats and produce. It also means staying away from grains, processed foods, and compounds that have been modified beyond recognition.
Because the density of almond flour varies brand to brand depending on how finely ground it is, you may possibly want to add an extra tablespoon or two of almond flour to your dough if you are using a different brand than the ones I’ve mentioned. If you’re nervous, you can bake a test batch with just 2-3 cookies and see how they spread. Stephany – I’m *wish* we could! I prefer baking with coconut oil whenever possible, but when I’ve tried it, the cookies spread so much and didn’t get the crackly top. I couldn’t ever really cobble together the right amounts that would offset the spread and texture change. If you try it and have better luck than me, I’d love to know what other adjustments you make!
Hi. I used 1/4 cup of molasses and 3/4 cup of erythritol. When I first tasted the cookie I thought it was a little bit too sweet, but now the taste seems perfect. With the erythritol and molasses in place of sugar, I can eat the cookie without a negative impact on my blood glucose. I like them so much I’m going to bake more and send them to my mother who is also diabetic.
Here’s a three-ingredient kebab combo that’s great to prep ahead of time (and trust us, they keep well enough in the fridge for a next-day snack). Cut chicken breasts into cubes and marinate in Tessemae’s Lemon Garlic Dressing for 1-3 hours. Thread cubes onto a skewer and grill for about 15 minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley. Hey I just been learning about what the paleo diet is and while I like the natural food aspect of it. I can say with scientific knowledge that cavemen did eat certain grains. They just aren’t the same as modern grains. For instance cavemen made and ate popcorn. Kernals have been found in caves, dated to over 6,500 years ago. Also later cavemen gathered grain and made bread. (though it wasn’t like our bread today, different grains and no yeast) It has been discovered from 30,000 years ago, 10,000 years ago corn was domesticated. The difference between people eating grains in prehistoric times and today is that we have domesticated the grains and bred them into a different species. Not only that but many of our grains are processed and other chemicals are added. This is the problem not the grains themselves unless you are allergic to them. Many people are allergic to modern wheat but can eat buckwheat. However one of the oldest breads was actually made with barley grain.
