In a large bowl, place the almond flour, coconut flour, salt and baking soda, and whisk to combine well. Add the palm sugar, and whisk again to combine, working out any lumps in the sugar. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients, and add the coconut oil, eggs and vanilla, mixing to combine after each addition. Add the chocolate chips tossed in coconut flour to the cookie dough, and mix to combine. The dough will be quite soft. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5PEhRsdGIU
In a large bowl, add add in beaten egg, melted and cooled coconut oil, coconut sugar and vanilla extract. (Please make sure your coconut oil is cool!) Next add in almond flour, coconut flour and baking soda, mixing well to combine and form a dough. Fold in dark chocolate chunks. You may need to use your hands to moisten the dough so that it sticks together well.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this amazingly easy and very yummy recipe!!!! I first baked 10 then…couple of days layer and cookie less doubled the recipe for 20!!! Not all for me, of course!ha! I do recommend to go ahead and melt the oil if using it from a jar. Otherwise the chips melt and darn it…you just have to add more!haha!! Either way, they are outstanding being paleo!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gZZpXmG2MU
Despite the limited number of categories in this Paleo diet food list, there really is an abundance of things you can eat! Simply put, to avoid confusion, the next time you are making out your Paleo shopping list, avoid processed foods and unpronounceable ingredients. Steer clear of sugar, grains, and high-sugar products. In other words, think like a caveman. (See also How to Customize A Diet Plan to Meet Your Specific Needs.)
If you’re craving toast or bread, you probably need more nitrogen. You can get that from high protein meats and fish. Don’t think of meat as a “snack”? Make some jerky. Even if you don’t have a dehydrator you can still make jerky. All you need to make jerky is a bit of time, some mild heat, and a dry environment. If you’ve been buying jerky, save yourself some loads of cash and make it yourself!
Hi Julie. Chocolate chip cookies without any sugar or chocolate wouldn’t really taste like chocolate chip cookies anymore…you could try substituting a calorie-free sweetener for the sugar if that’s what you’re looking for. Since cacao mass has no sweetener, I imagine it would be pretty bitter in cookies, but you could give it a shot – I’ve never used it before so I’m unsure of how it will work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCFZoqmKf5M
These can help you avoid the sort of pre-packaged snacks you find in stores that claim to be “made from real fruit” only to find that there are several other ingredients that rank higher on the ingredient list. Skip out on all of that added sugar, fructose, and even partially hydrogenated oils by making your own fruit snacks so you can do quality control. These are made with just 3 ingredients and they are using both raspberries and strawberries so the antioxidant level is through the roof. Gelatin is used to make them feel like a store bought fruit snack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maSjPJb4rbQ
No on paleo diet but awesome cookies. My husband’s favorite and kids loved it too. Very crispy cookies. Used 1/2 cup of coconut oil to help it form better. Probably could have used a little less. Kids allergic to almond so used whole wheat pastry flour. Used Agave nectar 6 Tablespoons, added 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and 1 tablespoon of flax seed ground. By the way this is my favorite cookies. Next time I’ll try adding oats.

Don’t settle for buying Fruit Roll-Ups when you can make your own version at home, without all of the chemicals and preservatives. These leathery lookalikes deliver all the flavor you could ask from a fruit snack, because they’re really made from fruit. Apples and strawberries to be exact, and there’s even a grapefruit added for good measure. The recipe ends up making 10 strips, which should be enough to get you through the week. It’s a bit of a novelty, and a delicious way to get some vitamins and nutrients into your body.

Made them last night, melted the honey to make it measure better, and then the cookies spread (but not awfully bad, we ate them with a spoon). This morning, I baked up the last 3-4 cookies and they came out exactly as described. I can only assume having the coconut oil and honey at room temp helped, next time I’ll make the dough and let it rest for a bit before I bake’em up. Very tasty tho! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKFa7KW3Nmk

I made your cookies three times. The first time they turned out perfect. But ever since I put my almond flour in fridge, they have come out flat. I measured everything exactly how you recommended but I couldn’t fix the problem. Is it because I store my flour in fridge? Or maybe it is because it got super hot outside (I live in hot Arizona, and dry climate sometimes affects wheat flour), I don’t know……We still ate the cookies, they are delicious no matter what. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pWQEEzXRhM
If you’re constantly craving chocolate, you might be deficient in magnesium. In fact, Mercola says approximately 80 percent of all Americans are deficient. If you find you crave chocolate, it’s very likely you need some magnesium. Almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds are all great sources of magnesium, as are green leafy veg like Swiss chard and spinach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWy3u38J3aw
Here’s a three-ingredient kebab combo that’s great to prep ahead of time (and trust us, they keep well enough in the fridge for a next-day snack). Cut chicken breasts into cubes and marinate in Tessemae’s Lemon Garlic Dressing for 1-3 hours. Thread cubes onto a skewer and grill for about 15 minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley. No extra sauce needed.
Get yourself a top round roast and slice it as thinly as you can (or get your butcher to do it). The best jerky is made with just a few ingredients (but everyone’s taste buds are different). You’ll want to combine coconut aminos, some spices, and coconut sugar (yes, it isn’t totally Paleo; you can use honey instead). If you want the flavor that liquid smoke imparts, feel free to add it in. Put all the ingredients into a bowl, throw in the meat, stir it around, cover it, and put it in your fridge for at least 12 hours. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wG3b3ql34A
Ideally, if you have a good Paleo breakfast and lunch, you’ll often find you don’t feel hungry and don’t need to snack. If you do find yourself hungry between meals, try eating more at meals (are you consuming enough satiating fat in your meals?). Also, check out the recipe book I've just written with loads of Paleo Breakfast recipes to inspire you.
The paleo diet eliminates dairy because its advocates say many people are lactose intolerant, and because eating dairy has been associated with Crohn’s disease, among other claims. (4) While you wouldn’t want to eat lactose (a sugar found in dairy) if your body can’t tolerate it, there’s no proof that eating dairy causes Crohn’s or worsens symptoms in those who have been diagnosed. (5)
I wanted to point out the similarity between the paleo diet and the more revolutionary diet being used by diabetics (as opposed to that espoused by the World diabetic associations) to remove carbs from the diet and have high protein / moderate fat to achieve almost normal blood sugar levels. Historically high carb diets rich in grain / starch were recommended and still are to an extent.

A diet rich in leafy greens and all veggies in general provides us not only with adequate calcium to build bones and keep our digestive system functioning well, it does so more than an approach which includes cereal grains and milk. The advantage is that the Paleo approach eliminates the potentially negative consequences of drinking milk and eating a bowl of fortified flakes. According to Dr. Cordain, “The critical dietary factor influencing bone metabolism and hence osteoporosis is not calcium intake, nor calcium excretion, but rather calcium balance.”

And what about fiber? Cordain notes on his website, “Compared to fruits and veggies, cereal grains are B-vitamin lightweights. An average 1,000-calorie serving of mixed vegetables contains 19 times more folate, five times more vitamin B6, six times more vitamin B2 and two times more vitamin B1 than a comparable serving of eight mixed whole grains. On a calorie-by-calorie basis, the niacin content of lean meat and seafood is four times greater than that found in whole grains.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TluCTt_tjBY

Great as a snack or healthier dessert option, apples are reasonably low in blood-sugar spiking carbohydrates while providing a host of beneficial nutrients. They’re full of vitamins A, B, C, E and K that promote detoxifying and healthy skin while boron helps to maintain strong bones. Apples also contain antioxidants and phytochemicals which have been shown to help to prevent Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
I just got to know about this paleo diet from one of my friend. I have gained some 6-7kgs in 2.5 months that’s because i fractured my leg and no workouts. Now i’m seriously trying to reduce my weight by dieting and excising, but i have vitamin D deficiency and end up getting sprain on my neck or low back while excising . Could you please suggest me the diet that i should be taking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mybgoG_DHZk
I have tried several low carb or paleo chocolate chip recipes. Made these last night, used half erythritol and half coconut palm sugar. I may have baked 1 min. longer, they came out crispy. But they tasted great and I love crispy cookies anyway, but next time I will bake according to the instructions. So far, these are the bet CC cookie recipe I have made since eliminating wheat, grains and sugar from my diet over 2 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Y3BVezBNjs
I’m sorry to hear these didn’t work out for you. I’m not sure what you mean by “the flour never became anything but crumbled powder.” Were you making your own almond flour, and the ground almonds didn’t become fluffy enough? Or do you mean that there wasn’t enough moisture for the cookies to hold together? I’ve made these cookies many times, and this ratio of maple syrup and coconut oil (or butter) has always produced a delicious result. You can always add additional coconut oil or maple syrup if the cookie dough doesn’t look like it will hold together. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas, regardless!
Contrary to popular belief, our body’s preferred source of fuel is fat, not carbohydrates. Therefore, quality fats are an important part of the paleo diet. Fats won’t make you fat. Instead, they’ll encourage your body to burn stored energy and can even contribute to reducing cravings for sweet, carbohydrate loaded foods. People who include some healthy fats with every meal have also been shown to eat less because fats are so inherently satisfying.

Hi Dave, sorry for your troubles! More likely than not, the problem is that your almond flour is too coarse. I’ve added a link in the recipe with the brand I recommend (Honeyville) – it’s blanched and very fine and acts much more similarly to a traditional wheat flour than some coarser almond flours/meals do. In the meantime, you could try baking the cookie dough you have in a pan to make blondies so it doesn’t go to waste. Hope it still tastes delicious! Happy New Year.
When people hear the word diet, they often think of all the yummy foods they undoubtedly have to give up. But Go Raw is the exception. Founded on the principle of a raw-based diet, Go Raw offers organic and vegan snacks that taste good, like their Paleo cookies that come in unique flavors, including ginger snap and lemon pie. While these may not be your warm, gooey homemade chocolate chip cookies, they definitely satisfy a sweet tooth.
Making these…again!! This time I added shredded coconut. I waited until the cookies were on the sheet and pressed in about 3 cranberries and 3 chocolate chips each per cookie just to make sure they were a little lighter on the chocolate as I keep making these repeatedly for my 2 year old. Sneaky! Also my batter looked a tiny bit on the wet side so I just sprinkled in a few spoonfuls of coconut flour to get them to be the right consistency. Sometimes you just have to tweak any recipe on any given time to make it right.

If you’ve been following the Paleo diet for a while now, and you are in the habit of including snacks, chances are you’ve incorporated some form of jerky from time to time.  Unfortunately, when buying off-the-shelf jerky, you can spend your fair share of time scrutinizing over the ingredient list to ensure that it is free from added sugars or other preservatives that you are trying to avoid . On the other hand, there are quite a few Paleo-friendly brands out there.  In the long run, you may find that making your own jerky may be an easier, cheaper, and more flavorful option.  Here are some easy and flavorful recipes for your jerky repertoire:

Been on a keto diet for two months now, I have a ravenous sweet tooth thanks to my Scottish Gma. Tried several low carb cookies, treats and all were ok to failure. This recipe is a KEEPER!! I’m sooooo glad I came across this recipe. This is one to pass down as a family recipe. I did not put molasses in but mine did not flatten out, I pressed them round after the first batch. I don’t know why but it doesn’t matter cause the are wonderful!!! Thank you Stacey!!!!
Cooking and consuming seaweeds can be intimidating because they can seem quite bland, tough or bitter at first glance. With the proper seasonings and cooking though, they can become a real treat. In the following snack, nori sheets are simply rubbed with coconut oil, seasoned with sea salt and a small amount of sesame oil, then roasted very briefly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ip69hOWsSls
This snack has Paleo written all over it. It has just the essential ingredients needed for a fried almond snack, and they’ve made this incredibly simple to follow. Almonds are one of the healthiest nuts you can eat, but sometimes they can get a little boring. By frying them you immediately improve the taste, and since they have you frying them in a Paleo approved oil you will be staying on the Paleo path. Rosemary is an herb that really goes nicely with almonds, but the ghee steals the show in terms of taste, giving the almonds a nice buttery flavor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRafxW1OaUc
